These coos seem to have impressive barns, Squire.
Chris: They are living a life of luxury
Jolie vue panoramique.
Chris: Indeed so, thank you Martine
Not the Danelaw is it though....smile
Chris: The heart of ancient Wessex
Very pastoral!
Chris: Totally hereabouts
Serenité pour cette belle prise de vue !
Merci
Chris: I am obliged to you Claudine
I'm really getting my education on Wessex, Chris, thanks to you and your fellow Stooge. What a great pano of "near Sherborne," which I remember so well.
Chris: Down in dear old Dorset Ginnie, near where Penny grew up..

I always imagine people back in that time walking from town to town and have this kind of view after a long walk and know that the pub is not far away.
What a great picture, Chris
Chris: A pleasure Astrid. This is one of my favourite parts of the world..
A wonderful county ...I didn't't realise Tettenhall was a place of significance in those days
Chris: I shall Google the place, which, I am forced to admit, I had never heard of prior to today..

I had not realised that Strathclyde existed in 910; I always thought it was one of those things created when "Avon", "Salop" and other such nonsense happened in the 1970s(?). Just shows how little little I know about the Land of Beautiful Vistas.
Chris: I'm with you on this. I too thought Strathclyde was a grisly modern concoction of suburbs and shipyards..

Oh look at that map of Wessex in its heyday Tiff, but it makes you very proud...right.

What a lovely countryside with all the cows! I am surprised to see the large ancient Wessex country on the maps. There are still traces of the Danish area in England?
Chris: In terms of place names then certainly
Just goes to prove England doesn't come much better than that.
Chris: It's a joy Brian
With the large herd of Holsteins, you could even say bucolic.
Chris: Very bucolic Mary
What a lovely scene this is, Chris. England still has the most pleasant countryside you can find anywhere.
Chris: Yes it does, in certain places Bev

I hadn't realised how big Wessex was.
A lovely pastoral view.
Chris: Down near Sherborne Anne, a favourite area for me
Lovely Chris! A tranquil scene smile
Chris: Thank you Martin

A very crisp landscape, from a photographic viewpoint. And a beaut at the same time.

I don't see Sherborne on your map, so are you sure it is in Wessex?
Chris: At the time of the map Wessex might not have existed Louis..
