The Round Table is King Arthur's famed table in the Arthurian legend, around which he and his knights congregate. As its name suggests, it has no head, implying that everyone who sits there has equal status. The table was first described in 1155 by Wace, who relied on previous depictions of Arthur's fabulous retinue. The symbolism of the Round Table developed over time; by the close of the 12th century it had come to represent the chivalric order associated with Arthur's court, the Knights of the Round Table. The golden glory of Wessex revealed.

Yes, everyone is equal but some are more equal than others. I was disappointed to find that there is a now a charge to enter the Great Hall.
Chris: That is outrageous!

I recall I saw this Round Table board in Winchester Cathedral. The Round Table plays now a big role in many political institutions and activities.
Chris: I suppose it is in many ways symbolic
The table may be round but old Arthur got the best chair
Chris: And who can blame him..

Fascinating stuff, the table looks really big compared to that doorway.
Chris: It's huge Anne
I love sitting at round tables for meals, Chris. Doubt very much, though, if any woman was ever invited to sit at King Arthur's round table.
Chris: I have the feeling in Arthur's day women were only utilised for a limited number of tasks..
Bill showed us a lovely round table last week.
Chris: This one is bigger
The stuff of legends
Chris: Very much so Martin
