It is not without reason to think of Cerdic as the head of a partly British noble family with extensive territorial interests at the western end of the Litus Saxonicum. As such he may well have been entrusted in the last days of Roman, or sub-Roman authority with its defence. He would then be what in later Anglo-Saxon terminology could be described as an ealdorman. ... If such a dominant native family as that of Cerdic had already developed blood-relationships with existing Saxon and Jutish settlers at this end of the Saxon Shore, it could very well be tempted, once effective Roman authority had faded, to go further. It might have taken matters into its own hands and after eliminating any surviving pockets of resistance by competing British chieftains, such as the mysterious Trimmischlut of anna 508, it could 'begin to reign' without recognizing in future any superior authority

I'm sure you're making all this up. There are far too many black people shown in the image for this to be anywhere in Wessex at the time.
Chris: ME - make things up!!!!
Trimmischult is still regarded by some as a legendary figure who did not exist. It is said he ruled in a way that has some similarity to modern day communism although he was an absolute ruler. He was also said to be a great womaniser and fathered many children so also a bit like Bojo
Chris: What goes around comes around...

Good old Cerdic looks every part a Wessexian hero Tiff.
Chris: I will model myself on him Chad
I'm starting to get the idea that you and Chad are pleased to be men of Wessex, and why not.
Chris: We are indeed Brian
I wonder if Cedric is a mix-up of this name. I think you and Chad feel about Wessex as I do about Acadia.
Chris: I suspect we do Mary
