Whipped out all the shrubbery, cos it makes a mess in Autumn...
Chris: Quite right: all those messy leaves might cause a gent to come down these steps on his backside
Great architecture as it moves down the hill Chris...
that looks like me sitting on the steps... but i can't ever remember being there...

it must be the 70 years kicking in....petersmile

I love those people in the picture, it gives scale to the building. lots of stairs...
Chris: The picture wouldn't be worth showing without them Astrid. This is Liverpool, a very grand place indeed

What an architectural, neoclassic grandeur!
Chris: I never thought Liverpool would look like this Philine but after reading about its history I now understand why it is so grand

This is some imperssive building, Chris
Chris: Liverpool was founded on piles of cash Lisl
One of the things I love about our northern towns ans cities are the public buildings from the 19th century when it really was a powerhouse
Chris: Solid no-nonsense stuff isn't it

Liverpool is the city I want to visit one day- it must be fascinating! The building could be easily Vienna- Ring.
Chris: A new insight: thank you Philine

A familiar sight from days when Q lived in Liverpool, a lovely picture Chris, reminding me that we need to visit again very soon smile
Chris: I had never been to Liverpool before Chad & I went there a couple of weeks ago Anne. I didn't know what to expect but was very impressed with a lot of things. I thought the Anglican Cathedral was amazing, as were the museums & galleries
Very impressive...
Chris: Grand stuff eh Larry!
Back in the old days the important people really built some very grand buildings for municipal purposes didn't they. Why did somebody have to dump a pole right in front of it though!!
Chris: And it's leaning too..
fine, stately proportions, Chris. well captured
Chris: Wonderful aren't they Ayush
