I wonder if anyone has considered designing a dual purpose drinking fountain/baptismal font...?
Chris: You could do that and in the process make history
So what's the background on this?
Interesting video!
Chris: This is a very interestingly carved font I came across in an English church Elizabeth, the carvings were a thing of delight to me. Unfortunately I cannot now remember the location..

a beautiful, old baptismal font, but the box is a bit disturbing.
Chris: Yes I agree Philine
If you googled St Andrew's church and looked at every one listed you cold probably find it

or you could have a life

still what else is there on a rubbish day like today
Chris: Bugger all. We're snowed in, just had a mega breakfast
Fontmell Magna
Chris: Oh you wonderful man. I have been searching WTF it is for hours!
Never know what you can dig up.
Chris: As we frequently do..
Lots of the churches I have been in have lovely old fonts like this one. If nobody is about I usually move things like that box and the notice out of the way and put them back after I've taken my pictures, nd I also do it with other such things as well. Last year in Norfolk I went to move soemthign and set of the alarm system, we made a hasty retreat!
Chris: Sorry - you've just made me smile Brian..
it's a beautiful old sculpture Chris... i see a dove in the pattern which represents the Holy Spirit...
like Philine i don't understand the plastic box....petersmile
Chris: Thank you Peter, some churches can get into somewhat of a mess at times

It looks like the supporting base and possibly the column are newer than the font itself. The basin looks a bit lop-sided but then I guess being handcrafted with manual tools, it would be difficult to get it spot on.

I like Bill's suggestion for finding the location of this. I will rename my images in the formation of YYYYMMDD-location-filename and geotag them (if I remember). Can you get a clue to the location for this from the date it was taken?
Chris: All my pictures are in date order in files
i imagine the sheets pinned their show the architectural layout of this church, Chris?
Chris: Yes indeed Ayush: the church plan
Seems that it is dedicated to St. Andrew - but there are many such!
Chris: Yes indeed Tom but we have narrowed this down to Fontmell Magna
It looks like an old baptismal font
Chris: And it is still in use Claudio
