"The English socialist classical composer Rutland Boughton and his librettist Lawrence Buckley dreamed of an English cultural revival, perhaps including the establishment of a 'national' theatre, certainly an annual festival in the countryside that might become an English Oberammergau or Bayreuth."
Chris: Thank you for this Philine, all new to me..

The festivals of the early of the early 20th century seem so fa removed from those towards the end of the century and subsequently. Less muddy, too, probably.
Chris: A completely different thing

I enjoyed the Swanage railway video.
Chris: I included this as an antidote to all of that weird Glasto-crap
The Glastonbury festival is clearly not what it once was. Nice Puff puff video
Chris: The trains are included to add something sensible to this dreadful composition

This is an example of photograph transposing
Chris: Yes it is. You could call it a cop out, but then you could say the same of Chad's weekend contributions
Having attended many festivals a la modern Glastonbury, I marvel at the beginnings.
Chris: A different festival Mary, the music one started around 1970
The old saying, 'There's nothing new under the Sun' comes to mind. I posted a picture of the M7 in December, it was standing in Swanage, in steam, when we were there last year.
Chris: I remember the M7s in service very clearly
Also I like to take pictures of other times, well done.
Chris: Thank you kindly Claudio
