Now that are two real prize specimens. Are those 'tuinbonen'?? I hope you had more crop other than those two. I see 'The Bench' is still alive smile...
Great picture!
Chris: Jackie grew these to enter into a longest-bean competition
One for each of you. More you do not need. HA! And yes, I also see the bench is still alive (though not very well).
Chris: Poor old Benchie might have to be replaced next year Ginnie

Oh, good morning, my dear, old bench! I see that you are still useful for some things! Never you should be replaced! Oh, good morning, Jackie and Chris! Oh, good morning, Long- Beanie! I hope you will get an award!
Chris: I doubt if I will win an award for bench maintenance..

the green specimens look large swollen with seeds and probably very stringy to eat

The smiling two legged specimen on the right looks a bit rough and ready and possibly past its sell by date ... A good boiling should sort him out.
Chris: Totally past its sell by date mate..

Oh benchie - you are still alive. If only just.

One specimen and one girl holding onto beans, that are inspected by a rat. Poor bench.
Chris: I think next year I might replace the bench with something a little more smart Louis

Oh, I forgot: Good morning, Rattie!
Chris: A rare foray into the big wide world
Oh what beans! Are they regular green beans or a special type? It is wonderful that Rattie gets out once more.
Chris: Runner beans way past their sell by date Mary

Ready for a vegetable show??
Chris: They were going to be entered into a longest bean category at a village show but they got left behind unfortunately Anne
They are indeed very good bean specimens Chris, although Mr.Ratties aiming to shorten Jackies bean somewhat by the look of it.
Chris: Of course rats will eat just about anything Brian
