There is a good-looking pile of rocks there, Chris...you could knick a couple of the big ones to augment your backyard landscaping...
Chris: That is true, I could place the bench on top of them and venerate it
Progress is the bane of rural communities...
Chris: As you can see, Bath is fast approaching the suburb where we live

[Sigh] Another part of England's green and pleasant land forever. I like the rockery, though.
Chris: Actually is was as you describe before WW2, when it became a site occupied by the admiralty. This was knocked down a year or two ago and we now have the prospect of housing..

Is this building site near your home? I see Bath in the background.
Chris: Just down the road from us Philine
Much needed executive homes I imagine
Chris: That sort of thing plus some "affordable" (snigger) ones too..
I watched suburbia build so quickly hen my son lived in Ontario. His was the last street of the last subdivision in the area. Every time I returned there was an additional community past him. I couldn't believe it really.
Chris: There is a big house building programme happening in the UK
This is happening on the edges of Shepshed all the time these days. Planning permission has now been given for an estate of 3,200 houses to be built on prime agricultural land commencing about half a mile from us!!!
Chris: I think this is happening all over the place Brian
I suspect that "affordable" will have a rather different meaning in Bath compared with, say, Gateshead smile
Chris: Many hundreds of thousands of pounds Tom. The very term "affordable" is idiotic
they will spoil the view Chris... you'll have to climb higher up the hill to get this shot next year....petersmile
Chris: Yes I'm afraid I will Peter
