Beware of Normans bearing words and their own version of morality...
Chris: What about bearing gifts then? If a Norman offered me a bottle of plonk and a book showing appreciation of the female form then my entente would become immediately cordial..

Jolis détails de ces sculptures.
Chris: Historic and delightful aren't they Martine. I would like to see the original tapestry one day
An amazing bas relief... the perspective is interesting - the heads look too large.
Chris: Well when you think how old it must be, we shall have to forgive them that detail..

And so the Normans have arrived! Nicely captured - great lighting.
Chris: This image is from the font in Winchester Cathedral Kay. "This ancient, polished dark stone font, with its unique carvings of the miracles of St Nicholas, the kindly children’s saint, is one of the Cathedral’s greatest treasures. It was brought from Tournai, in modern Belgium, in the 12th century, and has been in constant use ever since. You can find it on the north side of the nave."

They don't look too happy about it. A big-headed lot, aren't they?
Chris: Well they had conquered us!

Oh, I assume this is one of the legends about St. Nicholas who gave gold balls to three poor girls. http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/real-santa/
Chris: I am sure you are right Philine
Mrs May will send them back when we leave the EU
Chris: Unless they're rich..
Being dragged in kicking and screaming. Hard to tell if this is metal or stone finished to look like metal.
Chris: It is in fact black marble Mary
Does this date back to around the time of the Norman Conquest Chris?
Chris: Yes I expect so
looking stern...
Chris: Very much so Larry
They don't look very happy about it!
Chris: You'd think they'd be ecstatic..
