She looks so small from this vantage point!
Chris: Quite so Elizabeth. This is a full size replica of a craft that crossed the Atlantic - imagine that!
We've been discovered! There goes our culture!

Nice shot, Chris.
Chris: Hahaha - thank you Frank!

I was honoured to have seen this amazing sight myself; a sailing boat being carried upstream by the tide without needing its sails and water in Gorge. A fine reminder of a good day out with my SC chum on our trek through the Wild West.
Chris: That was a very good day in exceedingly delightful company

Hard to believe that it wasn't so long ago that this would have been a commonplace sight on the Avon. Lovely photo.
Chris: Yes very hard to believe: thanks Mike

C'est très joli, beau point de vue.
Chris: Tank you kindly Martine
It would never be seen like this here. So many other boats would want to sail with the Matthew that she would be surrounded. A handful of raspberries must have been a treat while watching this.
Chris: It certainly was a treat to see this Mary
Nice to see a completely different shot of the gorge, and that old style replica ship is the bonus. There is some fine woodland on the far shore.
Chris: Yes indeed Brian, the Avon Gorge has cliffs on one side and woods on the other

I saw the Matthew in Bristol's old harbour, you can rent it for groups, also school classes, as I noticed. Looking down at the sailing boat I have the feeling to stand next to Brunel.
Chris: She is a classic vessel Philine, in a classic setting
It was a great bonus seeing this little craft on our visit. A nice shot of the Matthew
Chris: Agreed - great times
You are quite the time traveller!
Chris: If only..
you are a great lookout to sound the alarm to save the town from the invading ship Chris... a very nice shot indeed....petersmile
Chris: Yes - all those dangerous daytrippers aboard!
a very nice point of view, Chris.
Chris: The river here is very tidal Ayush, at low tide it reduces to little more than a dribble
a boat lost in the trees...
