After the Iceland debacle, Chris, I feel this game might be more suitable for what is left of UK after Scotland et al pull away...
Chris: Let's face it Ray, we've had a bad week (so far) so let's all settle down to a nice gentle game of croquet..

C'est une jeu que l'on ne pratique pas en France. L'enfant à  envie de jouer aussi.
Chris: A genteel game that is usually played on the lawns of country houses Martine. I doubt if the child has seen this spectacle before

Is this Bill's little Joseph? I like your series very much - just in these political times.
Chris: I do not often do series' Philine but this is my antidote to politics this week

The young can only look on as the old fritter away their future. Very apt.
Chris: You seem to share my opinion Mike. The picture was taken in your neck of the woods, just the other side of Banbury at Sulgrave Manor

A very English pastime Chris.
Chris: My point Anne, now we've Brexited we've little left to do..
Not a game I've ever played, I gather it is far from genteel though.
Chris: Nothing would surprise me Brian..

...but the American flag is flying!

Where's Sir Francis Drake when you need him?
Chris: This was the ancestral home of George Washington, here in deepest Northamptonshire..
Bu**er all
Chris: Indeed - I am about to butter my potatoes as I write this..
Kind words butter no parsnips

An Old English Saying
Chris: The full effect of which will certainly become obvious in the fullness of time
We'd probably lose at that too!
Chris: Oh dear..

This is a fabulous picture. The youngster that looks and thinks what went wrong...
Too bad that his older brothers and sisters, the ones between 18 and 24 thought it was not important to GO AND VOTE sad......
Chris: And they are now going to pay mightily for that Astrid..
Being casual and having fun! smile
Chris: That is what we do best Elizabeth
croquet

I remember playing some as a child. Don't remember my relatives playing it often.

I did some pretending I was playing golf
