Haha, I love the hats - I guess this is a not altogether serious rowing race that is about to commence.

they could be drinking wine whilst they are waiting.
Chris: Oh I expect they are..
Very current- the cry will once more be In/Out. There is just no escape.
Chris: Hehehe - quite so Martin
I bet you wished you could have joined them Tiff, I could just hear the cox calling, ' in, out, in, out etc as you speed down the river.
Chris: I was thinking much the same sort of thing when I was there Chad

Yes I saw you had been following in the footsteps of Jude the Obscure and taking in the charms of Christminster. I am currently with Tess in Kingsbere, only in the novel I hasten to add.
Chris: The charms of Christminster were amplified by the presence of many happy healthy student activities Mike, as illustrated..
One aboard may be having a birthday or the hats could be just for fun.I like watching these races.
Chris: This is Oxford tradition Mary, silly hats on the Isis during Eights Week

Not quite the Oxford or Cambridge Ladies' crew? are they?
Chris: This is the Isis at Oxford during Eights Week. The people in the boats are our future leaders, the cream of Britain's brain power..
They breed them big down your way Chris, none of those skinny types.
Chris: Nooo Brian! They've gotta be strong to compete here in Oxford against their contemporaries
Another in your series of how not to do HDR.
Chris: Hahaha!!
all set to go to the party Chris....petersmile
Chris: All just ready to have fun
Looks like they're ready, though!
Chris: Everybody is Elizabeth: it's a sort of race
