Je ne suis pas sûre que ce soit bien prudent de s'assoir sur ce banc.
Chris: The bench has seen better days but is as well as can be reasonably expected Martine

It what!

It gave you a splinter in the buttock?
Chris: I'm afraid so..
Not sure that's technically a bench any more.
Chris: I had not thought of that..

Oh, welcome my dear, poor bench! I hope Dr. Christopher Phillips sen. can help you!
Chris: I can help it by not attempting to sit on it..
This is a tragic case of benchidge neglect. I know that you have been carefully planning a full restoration for many years now, but in the meantime it keeps moving the goalposts as to what specific treatments is necessary. Does Mr Evans have any idea...about anything?
Chris: I'll try to wake him up to ask him Chad

Hooray! I keep wondering how the restoration is going of the old thing.. oh, and the bench, too wink I think its getting past the point of no return and first aid is too late.
Chris: I do feel myself that I am possibly now past the point of no return..
It needs more than first aid and shouting at it isn't going to help either
Chris: I thought it might help..

Both rotting away nicely ...[grin]
Chris: Err...some mistake surely
You and Benchie have both lost weight in these years but you look nice and healthy, if a bit angry. Not so for your good friend. A nice cremation for Benchie with his ashes spread in a garden seems in the future but he has not collapsed yet. First Aid might do something in the meantime but a specialist is in order,I am sure.
Chris: Maybe a new bench is in order..
Needs more than first aid!
Chris: I think you could be right Frank..

I fear this calls for a new bench, Chris.

The patient died a long time ago Tiff - best you can do is keep a few splinters and hope cloning of DNA takes a giant leap forward in our lifetime.
Chris: Some hope..

I was assuming that the First Aid book was for you Chris, after you'd sat on it.....
As a lover of characterful old things, I'd be sad to see him go just yet (I'll leave it to you to decide to which venerable object I am referring).
Chris: Hopefully you are referring to the bench Penny..
Give it a decent burial, Chris - it's well past the First Aid treatment!
Chris: I think I'm going to have to do just that Tom
Oh dear! Will your First Aid Guide help?
Chris: I doubt it..
That bench needs last rites, not first aid... smile
I can't believe this old thing is still standing, and you've still got the bench as well smile
