Ah, the hometown....
Chris: It's an impressive place Frank, such a contrast, I guess, to where you live now

That bloke with the executive glasses and an earful of smartphone certainly is the epitome of a Powerhouse, Chris...even if he is not originally from the North.
Chris: The government has designated the north of England as the "Northern Powerhouse" Ray. Chad and I went there to seek out its characteristics
a gentleman at his leisure
Chris... fantastic capture of the city through the window....petersmile
Chris: This picture was taken after breakfast Peter. Outside the window is the centre of Manchester
Nice comp, Chris! Home of the man I love!
Chris: Bet he's glad he's snuggling up to you rather that standing at a tram stop in the Manchester rain Elizabeth..

Primark will overtake a traditional shopping building here in Münster - we are surely in London? Chad was well pampered during the pilgrimage with good food, now only a cup of tea. Oh, it is raining again! But we are not in Droitwich.
Chris: You do not understand Philine, so I will explain. This is Manchester, epicentre of what the government has designated as the "Northern Powerhouse," Chad & I went there to check out its strengths and weaknesses
Everyone else seems to know where this is, Chris, but I obviously am not in the know. I do NOT believe it's London, however?! And it IS raining, if that means anything?
Chris: Big city - rain - obvious place - Manchester

Oh, more than thirty years ago I was in Manchester, but I recall only old industrial areas - and I know ManU! I would like to visit Manchester again, it must be a vivid, powerful, uprising city, also in cultural sense. It is also the hometown of Blackdog - oh, will he ever return to SC?
Chris: Blackdog is now too grand for S/C Philine. He wishes to live in the rarified atmosphere of St Ives clutching his paintbrushes
Ah Manchesterford the heart of Lancashire. You should have visited Nelson where my mother came from and seen the real powerhouse.....
Chris: In the news today it said well over 60% of northerners have never even heard of the Northern Powerhouse. Too busy watching Corrie I suppose

He is a powerhouse all right, although, not all there, all the time. Last I knew, he was still searching for Greenland. Maybe he is on his phone right there, with his intelligence staff to make sure Greenland is still where they have last sighted it.

We you can use some of that wet.
Chris: You can have all of the wet Louis, we've lots to spare
This is going to fantastic Tiff, five weeks of gritty realism. Here we see me doing my favourite things - watching people go to work while I drink coffee.
Chris: And I must pay fulsome tribute to you Chad, you do this so naturally and effortlessly

What are you doing up north? Is Chad checking the times of the first train back to the south. I could do with a power house at the moment; my electricity is off! I've had to come out for breakfast.
Chris: Well things can only get better then, unless of course your cottage gets blown away in the storms

We were oop north to check out the Northern House of Power
It is very good to visit other cities but I know they would never match up to Bath.
Chris: You cannot compare this place with Bath
Your answer to Bill has stolen my comment, I also saw that in today's news. There is another such name been given to the East Midlands that is regularly quoted on our local TV., it is all nonsense and spin of course.
Chris: Has the E Midlands missed out on the white heat of the technological revolution Brian?

I hope you enjoyed your stay there, Chris.
I can't understand why they have to give it this grandiose title. Like you said on the news they didn't have the foggiest idea of what it is about.
Chris: It's all about politics Pauline..

Familiar NPH weather Chris - you've got a good viewpoint there.
Chris: This is an after breakfast shot Penny, we were too bloated to move
Also well known for wet weather
Chris: Actually when we were there it only mercifully rained at night
Proverbially wet - people are beginning to realise that the powerhouse is a no-power house!
Chris: But...but...George says it is!
