Mislaid their trailer of power tools.
Chris: I suppose they get a sense of satisfaction out of this Ray
I thought that bloke looks like me Tiff, scary. I also thought that bodging meant something else.
Chris: To you & me it means something else Chad but not to him

Absorbing, too - you are continuing Astrid's series of working men while she is on holidays.
Chris: This isn't really work Philine, these people were on a week's bodging course at Westonbirt Arboretum

Did you make a chair to your own?
Chris: No Philine, I was just passing and took some photographs
Bodging is the correct term. When I bodge it has the other meaning
Chris: Me too..

I think that we all have our view of the real meaning of "bodging". Just shows what you can do with some sticky-backed plastic, a washing up liquid bottle and a pair of Val's old knickers.
Chris: I'm sure Val's old knickers have a number of uses..

Bodging: "Other theories about its origin include the German word Böttcher (cooper, a trade that uses similar tools), and similar Scandinavian words, such the Danish name Bødker. These words have similar origins to the English word butt, as in water butt". Yes, my dictionary mentions also an other 'urban' meaning.
Chris: That is very informative: thank you Philine

Then he is a bodger, not a codger. Quite absorbing to see old processes being used.
Chris: If you have the time these processes are quite robust Louis

There was an old codger
Who lived as a lodger
He had a career as a bodger
But not paying his rent made him a dodger.
Chris: Err... don't call us -
It is nice that they are using reclaimed wood. You may be lucky and sit in one of them one day.
Chris: If I am allowed to..

Back to nature then.... wonder if you are now able to make a new bench? You taught me a new word though 'bodging'......
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodging
Chris: If I tried to make a new bench I would bodge it Astrid

Bodging also means doing a job in a slipshod fashion, something you would never do yourself
It is amazing how so many beautiful things have been made over the centuries by people using such simple tools as these.
Chris: Quite so Brian, there is real skill in this
Interesting to see where the other meaning comes from Chris
Chris: This is the positive sort of bodging Janet

Bodging - a good word. A great picture of bodging in action
Chris: It's nice to see this old craft still surviving Anne
in today's world of unfettered consumerism, i think they are extremely unique!
Chris: They pay for this privilege Ayush
Making a living or demonstrating a craft or a bit of both?
Chris: On a course Tom, making (or bodging) chairs
i think that it's a great woodworking class Chris...
he is using a lathe made out of wood... clamps and foot peddles to provide the power to turn the wood to create a spindle....petersmile
Chris: This is primitive but clever stuff Peter
