How wonderful. This is just how picnics should be. Perhaps Cook will have provided the food and your chauffeur would have carried this to perhaps the Bacon Butty Hills for a suitable feat?
Chris: That sounds about right. These days a picnic consists of a burger & "diet" fizzy drink..

A few years ago we bought a small picnic-basket, for 4 persons, plates, cups, forks/knives/spoons. We sometimes use it. It is so fun.
LOL at Alan.... My cook and chauffeur retired a long time ago wink
Great set of picnic accessories.
Chris: This is a little memento of how life used to be Astrid

and now we are ready to go to the Glyndebourne or another festival - a warm plaid should be there, too. And I remember your chairs! It is so typically English in the finest way!
Chris: That is so Philine, gracious but not over ostentatious living..

I can't quite see you going on a picnic with these, Chris
Chris: Agreed Lisl - too complicated

I see the soda siphon, Chris, but where is the strong stuff that goes with it.

Picnics don't go like this any more...a soggy hamburger in a polystyrene clamshell, and a cardboard mug with fizzy stuff is the standard now.
Chris: A ghastly thought for civilised chaps like us Ray
Ah these are wonderful: how a picnic should be
Chris: Quite so: bring back the past!
Oh, I remember these. Most Sundays in summer were spent at a beach and my mother would fill a large picnic basket. Oh, the memories!
Chris: Ahh - memories!
Those thermos flasks ring a bell Tiff.
Chris: And you could have a ding dong drink out in the gloaming Chad

Chris: Thank you Peter
Now that's for the really serious picknicer
Chris: From the days when picnics could be a serious business Tom
Genuine picnic equipment from a bygone era
Chris: And now maybe worth a bob or two perhaps?
