Nice building - but I really love that elegant lamp post!
Chris: Wonderful isn't it Elizabeth - it still works too despite its age

On the right side there could be a chapel - the flat roof of the one building looks unusual. I would like to know a bit more about this ensemble of brickstone houses.
Chris: This was taken last week in the close around Salisbury Cathedral Philine. To the right of this but out of shot is Mompesson House. Maybe you have been there yourself?

Oh, sorry, I have been recently in Salisbury Cathedral, but I cannot remember to have seen its surroundings. I recall the large green around the cathedral.
Chris: These houses are on the edge of the green
I thought I recognised this. We went to Mompresson house and also Ted Heath's House which was, apparently, open for the last time. The Cathedral close is lovely
Chris: Very much so but, of course, packed with humanity

Although, I've never been in the Close, I recognised from the photos of other - lesser- photographers. Shame about the rubbish bin but less obtrusive than others. I do like the lamp standard. I do hope it does not have one of the awful low energy lamps in it.
Chris: Oh I expect it does, there's nothing like saving the planet by restricting the amount people can see..
Wonderful, a step back in time, even an old wire litter bin.
Chris: I suspect they've got tight planning laws around here Martin
I thought I recognised, this, I've walked here during a flying visit to Salisbury on a Sunday a few years ago. Sadly a service was in progress so we didn't get to go inside the cathedral. Technical comment, I might have moved a bit to the left and got the lovely lamppost slightly more to the right.
Chris: Thank you Brian. I took the composition as it is here because of parked cars just out of shot both left and right, otherwise I would have done as you wisely suggest
Charming - shall we make them an offer - shame it is so far from the sea!
Chris: I doubt if we could afford this place Mike
The Church has always done well for itself smile
Chris: That is an understatement!
Pleasing colour and buildings
