Threatening the plant with a hammer is not likely to make it deliver plump, round, red tomatoes, Chris!
Chris: Then I have made a serious miscalculation

Chris: I love it really..
Hooray!!!! Enjoying some gardening I see!
Chris: Indeed so Elizabeth - I just want to demonstrate how practical a person I am
It's not warm enough here in Dutchland to wear shorts yet, Chris, or was that wishful thinking???
Chris: In the UK it has been hot for some time Ginnie

I know, isn't awful... and after each Winter that BL****Y bench is still there. When does that thing evaporate and is put out of his and your misery...
But then... if that happens, the tomatoes need to be put on the ground. Be careful with that hammer, the tomato plant might attack you....
Chris: You are quite right Astrid, never underestimate the viciousness of an untamed tomato plant!
Were you planning on nailing that tomato plant to the bench?
Chris: Yes I was

Put down that hammer Chris - you know you will damage yourself more than the bench.
Chris: You are so SENSIBLE!

I am heartened that the long awaited plan to restore 'The Bench' is finally beginning to be discussed again.
Chris: What are you talking about?
Did you mean to hit the bench but crushed your nuts instead Chris.
Chris: Yes I did Mick..

That bench continues to mature well I see, like a bad wine!
Chris: Yes indeed so Brian - a terrible one

Ah... the bench; I'd forgotten about that! Could this be the Year of the Refurbishment? Perhaps we could hold a min SC meet to mark the completion at some point?
Chris: Don't get too excited about this prospect Alan..
Typical eh...let's get on with gardening!
Chris: I think we should do just that Ronky
You look rather menacing here, Chris, so I think I'll just take a few steps backward, slow & easy, and leave you & your hammer to do whatever damage you have in mind.
Chris: Err.. I think I'll put the hammer down Bev
Already you have been sunburned. Happy times in the garden though. Hello Benchy. Hurrah for summer!
Chris: Good isn't it!

Is this what 'tack'ful treatment means to you Mr Phillips
Chris: I have my own methods when it comes to propagation..

Glad to see you are getting good weather, though the effect it has had on your wall doesn't look too promising
Chris: Nor on my dress sense, brain and ability to twiddle properly Anne

I blame W J Phillips (no relation)
The Bench seems not to have had a good winter!
Chris: It is very sturdy
I think potential visitors will be deterred from 'resting a while' on that bench...
