Well-marked cricket oval boundary here, Chris.

Beautiful composition demonstrated.
Chris: The village of Avebury is built around some amazing stone circles Ray

Some might say, that the dumping of those lumps of rock, is an ancient form of fly tipping.
Chris: Err..some mistake surely!!
a joyful day to be outside, in my opinion, Chris
Chris: Especially before this ancient site is flooded by tourists Ayush

Wonderful, tall trees! A very fine composition! I often heard of the Averbury stones, for many people more interesting than Stonehenge (I'll see in June again).
Chris: Indeed you will Philine: Jackie & I took Astrid & Ginnie there on their first visit to the UK

Looks glorious in this light. Far too many people in the shot, though.
Chris: I'm sure you have enough common sense not to go anywhere near Avebury in the tourist season. I suppose that goes without saying because you will be miles away in the driving sleet atop a mountain where the locals enjoy telling gullible strangers that the view is wonderful and you can see ten counties from the summit
It is a great place and this is a different view. It does get very busy!!
Chris: I am obliged to you
I would love to visit in the off season...
Chris: You would like it Larry

Plus stone circle detail!

Never been, perhaps I should add it to the 2014 itinerary. Looks a tad cheerful though!
Chris: Go on a wet day perhaps?
Can you walk right up to the stones?
Chris: Yes you can Mary
Those stones catch the eye Chris, is there a web link to their history ?
I like how open and accessible the area is, Chris. Imagine having these ancient stone circles as part of your village; incredible!
Chris: Amazing isn't it Bev!
Somewhere I have still to go.
Chris: I am sure you would enjoy it Brian
This is a quite interesting image Chris and well framed...
i did a search on Avery and was quite impressed with the size of the circles... thank you... i learn something new every day on SC....petersmile
Chris: A pleasure Peter
