Smile for the sweet old codger, Dear..He's one of my regulars...
Chris: I charmed them Ray
Cute portrait!!
Chris: Thank you Elizabeth
Oh, I'm a bit disappointed, I expected both real ladies would smoke in a some elegant, slightly lascive way a fine cigarillo while using a cigarholder although even such harmless delights are nowadays forbidden (and I say this as passionate anti-smoker)! The lady on the left side looks rather English with her tattoo on her right hand (I saw the phenomenon often in GB).
Chris: I'm afraid the days of elegant cigarette holders are long gone Philine. With regard to tattoos I expect half the UK population is thus adorned in one way or another - but not me!
Please, we should not recommend Bill to start smoking in order to keep a slender figure! There might be some lucky things that could be helpful ...
Chris: Bill is a reformed man Philine: he used to smoke but has now transmogrified into the lithe, athletic & aesthetic figure we see before us today
Have you been taking lessons from Trimbo.
Chris: Well....just occasionally I ask friendly looking people if they will pose for me

What will become of them when fags are to be kept 'under the counter' and out of view. Sales might plummet due to gravity (whatever that is).
Chris: Gravity is seriousness Chad

Chris: The cheapest way to smoke is to roll your own Linda: I did it for years

The doctor advised my Mum to take up smoking when she was 14 - she'd had a sinus operation and he advised it to cauterise the wound, telling her to make sure she inhaled really deeply. Sadly, a lifelong smoking habit ensued, though I'm glad to say her lungs seem to be holding out so I hope she'll take after her grandfather, who smoked cigars and drank whisky well into his eighties.
No tattoos on me, either, though someone did give me a henna kit for my birthday so I might try a few temporary ones!
Chris: Everybody in my immediate family smoked (except the dog) Penny. Henna tattoos: brilliant idea!

Talking of under the counter (see Chad) I note they have a copy of the Morning Star - even more rare than a smoker in a public place these days!
Chris: This was taken at your very own railway station: Banbury Mike

Back then they claimed it is good for you. Today it will hurt unborn children and others near you. THEY are a lying bunch, just gotta find out; was it then or now?

It's toasted. No throat irritation. No cough. Ha, you should hear my brother.
Chris: In those days they could claim ANYTHING Louis
Great picture of these two Chris. I see my old cigars are now a fiver a packet, that's a pound each going up in smoke, glad I packed up.
Chris: It's a lot of dosh to be sure Brian
They are friendly looking tobacco pushers. Not an easy one to kick I seem to remember
Chris: It only took me forty odd years in all to stop Janet...
It's nice to see a tobacco vender with the product on the shelves Chris... they made them put all tobacco products under the counters... it makes it hard to pick out good pile tobacco or cigars that waysmile....petersmile
Chris: Agreed Peter

A friendly pair. Love the ad and the way they associate smoking with keeping trim - would never be allowed these days!
Nice shot. The Nicotine Sisters.
