THE INNOCENTS

I took this picture of victims of Auschwitz, then, quite by chance, I learned it was the 75th anniversary of its liberation. An amazing co-incidence..

It is still confronting, after all these years, Chris, but I still wonder if Mankind has learned enough.
Quelle tristesse !

It is distressing to look at all these innocent faces
Another "coincidence," Chris, for me, is that I will always know how long ago the liberation was because of my age! Lest we forget.

On 27th January we commemorate the 75th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation by the Russian army. A moving collection of photos. Yes, lest we forget. Our President Steinmeyer was allowed for the first time to speak in Yad VaSchem ...

These are indeed the innocents and it always gets more close by when you see the faces. And I am sad about the hatred still going around.
A timely reminder of what blind hatred can lead to when the same hatred is being stirred up again by extreme groups and populist politicians

Where was this being displayed, Chris?
Rest in Peace.
There has been some articles in the newspapers over the last few days that make harrowing reading, everybody says this must never happen again and yet we know in some parts of the world even now similar things on a smaller scale are still taking place.

A terrible period in our history. I would fervently hope that we never had such an appalling outrage again.
Their contribution to the world was cruelly curtailed an unquantifiable loss.
it is a great memorial of some of the victims of Auschwitz Chris....petersmile
Very sad - I still remember seeing the newsreels at the cinema at the end of the war.
That's a powerful image Chris, seeing the actual people............
