I concluded therefore a sensible option would be to get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. I would put my best foot forward, put the rats in a box and catch a train to the countryside without delay - and there I would plan my route to salvation.

I see you travelled behind a fine Castle Class Locomotive. A Collett design introduced in 1923 and developed from the Star class. Indeed, som Castles were converted from Stars.

This information comes from the 1961 Ian Allen British Railways Locomotives Combined volume, priced at 10'6. A not inconsiderable sum at the time. Incidentally, if you turn 1961 upside down it still says 1961.

I didn't know you were an engine driver in your spare time Chris! My grandad was an engine driver on the Great Western Railway.
