Le drapeau est partout même en vêtement.
Chris: And yet we rarely see it, except for world cups and royal occasions

Ahh.. the village fete; long may such wonderful traditions continue. I can hear Elgar;s stirring music ringing out... Was there a competition for "Silly hair colurs"?
Chris: Well there easily could have been, neither was pinning the tail on the donkey - which these days would be criticised as specism

I have never really liked fetes and generally find them boring Tiff, but as I can see from your photos, the people are the things to see.
Chris: Precisely Chad, the people are what I go for
The heart and soul of English country life, something the metropolitan elite have no idea actually exists, their loss, our gain.
Chris: Thank you Brian, that is my opinion too
Waving the flag is quite often a bit part of them all.
Chris: This is simple patriotism
English village fetes are sometimes woven into the scripts of British TV mystery series. A lovely set of photos, Chris.
Chris: Yes Bev - they really do exist!

Typical southern English rather than British - we never have good enough weather up north smile This year is an exception of course! Have you heard anything of or from Ray recently?
Chris: Yes oop north it rains all the time. Alan aught to live there.
