to big up- never heard before!
Chris: I photographed this because it is a very good example of the journey of the English language Philine. Whether bigging-up will catch on as a phrase or concept we shall have to wait and see..

Is this someone's front-room, or is it a shop, Chris?
Chris: I regret to say it is a shop Lisl. In Wincanton, of all places..

That doughnut is second-hand...reject it!
Chris: I shall take great pleasure in DOING JUST THAT THING!

Slang (chiefly Caribbean) in the Reggae- Party scene!
Chris: Thank you Philine, this makes sense
Attirant par cette vitrine très gaie ..
Bonne journée
Chris: This certainly is cheerful, if nothing else, Claudine: thank you
THe sort of party to avoid
Chris: At all costs..
I am glad we don’t get sights like this in Halesworth.
Chris: Would the middle class denizens of your town understand what this property was about, given its title?

Frankly I doubt it..

Big up the party? What sort of language is that Tiff?
Chris: I refer you to Philine's second reply, naturally she has found the answer to your question Chad..

Conversely can one small down the party Tiff?
Chris: Good question Chad. Mr W J Phillips (no relation) of Droitwich Spa informs me that he is to small down the quality of his blog next week

I wonder if "to big up" is similar to the equally incomprehensible "to rock up"? I would be happy with one of these ice cream cones; can I have it with scraps of strawberry, though, not some of that ghastly "Mr Whippy" stuff?
Chris: The Mr Whippy confections always seem to contain around 80% air, the rest being whatever they make the stuff with. Disgusting!
I am not familiar with the term but our industrious Philine has provided a translation. Perhaps you will visit again before THE BIG EVENT in September.
Chris: Well perhaps Mary..
Do you think these might come in useful on 3rd.September, mind you there will probably be so many of us it won't need 'bigging up' we'll just take the place over for the day.
Chris: Croome is a very big place Brian..
Broken English...
Chris: Yes Larry, our English, she is broke

Mmm, I think I may just give this party a miss smile
Chris: Vile isn't it Anne. Although I suspect it and its contents are aimed at teenagers..
Birthday party? Funny
