A fine old engine... and a busy Mr. Ratty... (or is it Ms. Ratty?)
Chris: This is actually a new engine being constructed to an old design from parts of other locos Larry.

Rats are always busy..
i do not think i have an seen an unpainted boiler, Chris. the rivets looks more obvious

What a potent, stately, dare I say beautiful, beast!

The steam loco is not too bad either...
Chris: Oh - you FLATTERER!
Ah now there's an engine!
Chris: And hopefully in 2018 it will run under its own steam for the first time..

Which is the older?
Chris: The design of the loco is 1902 Lisl. None of the originals exist, so this one is being constructed faithfully from bits of other engines.

So technically it is older than me..

Its good to see the old things being restored. Shame the one closer to the camera is beyond such efforts, though. I believe that this is "Saint" class - the one further from the camera.

You're trained Ratty very well.
Chris: Old Saint and living saint - indeed..

Have you just had a hair cut or maybe you are just loosing it.
Chris: Summer shot mate.

Hair groomed with Brilliantine, girls go CRAYZEE for it!
Very modest, aren't you!
Chris: Noo - the ENGINE!
I found it in the end, this is the 'new' Saint being built at Didcot I presume, being a man from GWR territory no wonder you look pleased at standing beside it.
Chris: Yes indeed Brian, I have followed the transformation for many years and this was my first meeting with the machine in the flesh, so to speak..
No doubt it will get the TLC it needs.
now that's a locomotive Chris...
it's nice to see your smiling face today....petersmile
Chris: Thank you Peter
technical progress smile, impressive
