So touching (literally)..amazing.
Chris: The people are gone but what survives is their emotions..
The bird is a little scary.... but I love that the couple are holding hands!
Chris: Down the centuries love endures..

I love the couple on the lower image, united even in the death. Unusual is the footrest in the upper image, a cock or a bird, there are also two apples for the animal.
Chris: I wish I could now remember where I photographed the cock and two apples Philine but alas I cannot..

Perhaps her footrest is more appropriate than yesterday's goat, Chris
Chris: Yes indeed Lisl

The cock looks rather lively ... Up to some tricks, no doubt.
Chris: They usually are Dick
round and round the garden
like a teddy bear
one step two step
tickly under there
Chris: You are taking me back to sitting on my mother's lap!

I think the expression on the bird's face is wonderful. I like the symbolism in the lower image; lovers even in death.
Chris: I refer you to this: -

This bird looks furious about something Tiff. Very touching the way the hands are touching in your lower picture.
Chris: He is stuck there for ever Chad. Imagine ourselves in a carpark in Droitwich, unable to move or escape for eternity..

What wonderful workmanship creating the folds in the clothes and the feathers on the bird.
Chris: Such skill takes one's breath away really..
Strange how the emotions created by both pairs of sculptures give completely different moods. I wonder what the Cockerel has to do with things.
Chris: I cannot give you an answer to that Brian. Perhaps it was a family emblem..
I believe the top sculpture is marble. Amazing the colouration that occurs at the exact place it does in the bird's beak and eye in regards to the whole sculpture. Ah, it has been painted in places.
Chris: I suspect this might be alabaster Mary, a lot of British church carvings are
There is quite a story here, interesting to read everyone's own interpretations.
Chris: Yes it is, thanks Martin
