LET THERE BE FLIGHT

Many thanks to those who offered birthday greetings yesterday.

Next year it is the BIG ONE - my 70th. I hope therefore it might be the opportunity to have a SHUTTERCHANCE MEET-UP on Monday 3rd September 2018.

Unless anyone objects the venue will be a National Trust property - CROOME COURT. This charming location is situated not far from the interesting town of DROITWICH SPA.

Repairs! I remember that being a major part of model airplanes!

Early congrats on your up-coming Big One, Chris. I'll start putting my small change in a jar, but doubt the jar will be big enough to fund me all the way to Droitwich Spa.
Chris: You can be with us in spirit then old chap..

Of course I could start cycling there tomorrow, and might get there in time, if I don't get kidnapped by that race of Amazon Gals that is said to live along the way...
Chris: Wow!
I hope this machine got airborne!

YAY for next year! We are hoping to make it! I'll put in for my time off now! smile
Chris: Oh goody!
Une belle activité ludique.
Chris: A harmless way to spend the day

These must be a lot pdf fun to fly..once has learnt how to do successfully. My elder brother used to built model aircraft using balsa wood, tissue paper and powered by glow plug engines. The house used to stink of dope (the cellulose type,, not the dope of today's youths).

I will put 3 September in my calendar.
Chris: I never did this seriously. But I never did ANYTHING seriously..
I have a friend in America who is part of a model-airplane drone club with airplanes from small to even larger than this, Chris. They even have their own runway! So this looks familiar to me...and fun.
Chris: This is a harmless way to while away your retirement Ginnie. I prefer photography..

A few times I saw this in real life and I have to say they must have a strong determination.... 300 hours of building and being locked up in a room and than the first flight... you just do a lot of praying that the engine will not stall... it will crash in two seconds... I am happy with my photography...
The 3rd of September 2018 is already marked that we are not at home.... So looking forward to that.
Chris: This model aeroplane hobby could be described at all anticipation and very little success Astrid. It is not really for me.

Good to have a whole year's notice, Chris. You need that for such an exciting event!
Chris: I am working on the event as I write this Lisl
I have put it in my nice new 2018 diary. Croome Court is an excellent venue and I can organiser a guided walk around Droitwich.....which would last about 10 minutes
Chris: Make it 5 minutes and you're on!

A perfect choice Tiff, and far enough away from Droitwich to hopefully avoid the rain.
Chris: When you & I visited Croome Court recently it was similar to a semi tropical paradise Chad
All being well Chris we should be there.
Chris: I am very happy to hear this Mick

I used to see a lot of these gliders (the real ones) in the sky above our home, where I grew up. They were toed into the sky from the nearby airport. The old man's hobby is repairing his model glider and his wife's hobby is sunning herself.

Congratulations on your birthday on Saturday. About next year - the venue look agreeable, but the walled garden is not open on Mondays. That may be made good, if they are offering bacon sarnies. Have to check.

Funny thing that I have noticed, looking on a map on scale 1 cm = 5 km, I actually saw Droitwich.
Chris: If you can make it next September a lot of us would be DELIGHTED Louis
That's quite a wide winged glider that chap has got. September 3rd.is duly noted, indeed I mentioned it to Astrid in an email earlier today. BTW we are spending next Sunday with Bill and Ange and finally getting our guided tour of Droitwich and Hanbury Hall, we are looking forward to it, we just need the weather to be kind.
Chris: It can be wet in Droitwich Brian, so be prepared..

The date is in my diary!
Chris: And I am delighted it is Anne
I notice it is another RAF museum, someone's love for meet-ups. I am glad it has a garden then. I was so hoping the celebration would be near Bath as you have made the city irresistible to me over these years. I will be there with bells on.
Chris: It will be nice to meet you Mary, Bath is just 40-50 miles away
The collections gallery looks very interesting. I would love to see the current exhibits.
Chris: Hopefully they will be of interest

I used to make balsa wood model planes back in the 50's
Chris: GET A GRIP MAN!
That's quite a machine to handle! I hope I can make 3 Sept next year!
Chris: I very much look forward to seeing you Tom
Happy birthday for yesterday........the 3rd is easy to remember.....It's my brothers birthday too! Hope you had a good time smile
Great to capture their sense of enthusiasm!

Oh, I didn't forget your birthday, but I didn't have any chance in France to send my best wishes to you - but it may be allowed to forward the wishes a bit later, too. Please, remain the wonderful, witty, funny, crazy and often philosophical person you are! I hope to see you in the next year.
